The rooms, the views, the service, the food...all fantastic. The only downsides are the rather hilly location makes it tough to walk around and the parking is limited on the hillside locations. They'll come pick you up anytime/anywhere, but sometimes you just want to walk around, and it's a little challenging here.

This is my 8th Four Seasons stay this year. Mostly international and this one doesn’t seem like a Four Seasons whatsoever. This is a Marriott or Hyatt. Dated. Too spread out. Cheap furnishings for sure! My room is $1200 a night for a one bedroom villa and this is easily a $400 a room. This location REALLY tarnishes the Four Seasons flag! Let Marriott take this over please!

We stayed at the Four Seasons Aviara to unwind following a few busy days in San Diego. We were so pleasantly surprised with the wonderful service; from check in to the restaurant and the pool, the staff were friendly and attentive. We appreciated the small gestures, such as having the packages that were sent to the hotel in advance placed in our room already. The hotel, the food, and the amenities were also all excellent. The Four Seasons Aviara is the place to go relax and we would recommend all our friends and family to go!

After a year of challenging stays with my 3-year old, this Four Seasons has shown me how fun travel can be again. Service was INCREDIBLE and attentive, room was spacious and nice (not updated up to the minute), and a ton of special touches made it a really wonderful trip.

What a lovely place! My friend has a timeshare there and has been coming here for 30 years.

The decor is attractive, and I have to say, I loved the electric fireplace.

The kitchen had everything one would need. Though I have to say their restaurant is lovely and has excellent food.

There is also a small spa.

No Small Plans

UPDATE: A year later, back for our annual trip -- two full weeks in a 2BR villa. It's only fair that I update my review. This summer we were given the most remote room at our #2 location choice, in the furthest/lowest corner, and absolutely loved it. So quiet, with a gorgeous view. Ironically, management may have believed they were giving us an inconvenient villa that others might not have preferred. But we were completely happy.

We have stayed here every June for years, and this is my first non-stellar review. For the first time we felt unfairly treated, as explained below.

Start with the good -- the rooms here are spacious and beautiful. This is not a place for a short weekend stay, which can run upwards of $1200 per night for a 2BR suite. However it is a crazy bargain if paid by the week via a timeshare broker for ~500 per night. (We stayed two weeks.) Two master bedrooms, three full baths, three patios/balconies, large dining/living room suite, full kitchen, and washer dryer make this a fantastic choice for long family stays or work-cations.

Now, our complaint. The 4S Aviara has three main villa areas, which we rank 1/2/3 in preference. Four Seasons called us the week before arrival to let us know area 1 was unavailable for our stay. Disappointed but we understood, and we were still happy to get area 2.

We arrived a day late into our first week, which we've done before. Sometimes three days late, with zero problem. At 12:30 pm (literally on the rental car bus -- our flight had just landed) my cell phone rang. It was Four Seasons, letting me know Area 2 was not available, and we would be placed in Area 3, our last choice. It doesn't take Encyclopedia Brown to figure out what happened: because we arrived a day late, they gave our preferred room away to someone else with basically zero notice.

At the desk we registered our complaint, and were brushed off with "This is the only way to get you two consecutive weeks" and "Our disclaimer as to room preference states that we do our best, but no guarantees." Sorry, but no sale. We had what we wanted until two hours ago, when you gave it away to another guest without warning. It may be all disclaimer-ed and legal-like, but it sure didn't feel fair.

Until now, we've had nothing but praise for this property. But if a non-refundable two-week stay is going to be a misinformed crapshoot on the part of Four Seasons, we'll be loath to bet our big annual summer vacation on such uncertainty in the future.

The service, atmosphere, amenities, and food were stellar. The beautifully fragrant flowers and landscaping were breathtaking. Everything was so intentional, from the fresh fruit and flowers in the room, to the strawberry lemonade welcome beverage at check in.
